Beschreibung:Myoglobin is a protein that is found in the muscle cells of vertebrates. It is a large, iron- and oxygen-binding protein molecule with a molecular weight of 17,000 Da. Myoglobin has been shown to have an inhibitory effect on the growth of colorectal adenocarcinoma cells. The anticancer activity of myoglobin may be due to its ability to bind to and inhibit the proliferation of cancer cells by binding to DNA and inhibiting transcription. In addition, myoglobin also has antimicrobial properties that are attributed to its ability to bind bacterial cell wall lipopolysaccharides (LPS) and prevent their interaction with host tissues, thereby preventing inflammation.
