• Beschreibung: LysoPC is a ternary complex consisting of a phospholipid, a fatty acid, and a proteinaceous component. LysoPC is synthesized by hydrolysis of poly-unsaturated fatty acids and phospholipids in the lipid membrane. The protein component of LysoPC is an enzyme that catalyzes the hydrolysis reaction. The enzyme responsible for the synthesis of lysoPC has not been identified, but it is thought to be either a lipase or esterase. LysoPCs are important because they can form monolayers at interfaces and nucleate biofilms. Monolayers are formed when lysoPCs are in contact with hydrophobic surfaces such as those found on bacteria or other microbial cells. This property allows lysoPCs to act as an adhesive layer between two surfaces, which may contribute to bacterial attachment and biofilm formation.
