Beschreibung

Perospirone is a drug that is used in the treatment of schizophrenia. It is a serotonin receptor antagonist that blocks the serotonin 5-HT2A, 5-HT2C, and 5-HT7 receptors. Perospirone also has neuroprotective effects, which may be due to its ability to protect against neuronal death through enhancing neurotrophic factors such as nerve growth factor and brain-derived neurotrophic factor. Perospirone has been shown to have antibacterial activity against infectious diseases such as tuberculosis and leprosy. The drug is stable in plasma and can be administered once daily, making it an ideal candidate for long-term use in patients with chronic infectious diseases.
