It is a competitive antagonist of RANKL binding to its receptor on osteoclasts and may inhibit osteoclast differentiation and activation. AVX 13616 has been shown to have an EC50 of 0.3 nM in inhibiting RANKL-induced proliferation of human osteoclasts in culture.
