BMS-P5 is a histone H3, which is the most abundant protein in chromatin. It belongs to the family of histones, which are proteins that package DNA and regulate its functions. Histone H3 is primarily responsible for maintaining the structure of chromatin by binding to DNA and RNA molecules, as well as other proteins. BMS-P5 has been shown to activate pro-inflammatory cytokines in both wild-type mice and human cells in vitro. The mechanism of action is not known but may be due to its ability to form a complex with virus or inflammatory factors.
