Beschreibung

Nafcillin sodium is a semisynthetic antibiotic that belongs to the group of penicillin antibiotics. It inhibits bacterial growth by binding to the penicillin-binding proteins in the bacterial cell wall, preventing them from forming an enzyme-inhibitor complex with cell wall synthesis and thus inhibiting protein synthesis. Nafcillin sodium has been shown to be effective in treating infectious diseases such as sepsis, pneumonia, and meningitis. It also has antibacterial efficacy against bacteria that are resistant to other antibiotics such as vancomycin therapy. This drug is available for intravenous administration only and can cause toxic epidermal reactions if administered transcutaneously or intravascularly.
