Beschreibung

NeoSpiramycin I is a sulfa drug that has been used to treat a variety of bacterial infections. It acts by inhibiting the formation of the bacterial cell wall, which leads to cell death. NeoSpiramycin I is detectable in human plasma for up to 12 hours and can be detected in urine for up to 36 hours after administration. The detection time may vary depending on the sample preparation method, as well as the matrix effect. A chromatographic analytical method can be used for detection, but this may result in interference from other compounds. The hydrolysis of NeoSpiramycin I can be detected by adding an acidic solution or sodium hydroxide solution to a fatty acid sample. NeoSpiramycin I is not active against Mycobacterium tuberculosis or Mycobacterium avium complex, but is active against staphylococcus and other bacteria such as clostridium perfringens and Escherichia coli
