Beschreibung

Sisomicin sulfate is an antibiotic that is used in the treatment of infections caused by Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. This drug has been shown to be effective against a variety of human pathogens, including Enterococcus faecalis, Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus pneumoniae, Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Mycobacterium tuberculosis, Salmonella enterica subsp. enterica serovar Typhi., Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Shigella flexneri. Sisomicin sulfate also has activity against some fungi and yeast. It binds to the ribosomal RNA of bacteria and inhibits protein synthesis. The trifluoroacetic acid moiety can be cleaved with heat or hydrolyzed with esterases or glutathione reductase in the body. Sisomicin sulfate can be used in combination with other antimicrobial agents
