Beschreibung

Umifenovir is a drug that is being investigated for the treatment of infectious diseases. It has been shown to reduce viral load and have antiviral effects against an influenza virus in cell culture at concentrations of 3-5 μM. Umifenovir may also inhibit the activity of polymerase chain reaction, which is the process by which DNA is replicated. Umifenovir has not been tested on humans for safety or efficacy, but it has been shown to be safe in preclinical animal studies. This drug may be effective against other types of viruses as well.
