2-((3-(3,6-Dichloro-9H-carbazol-9-yl)-2-hydroxypropyl)amino)-2-(hydroxymethyl)propane-1,3-diol is a decoupling agent that prevents the formation of hydrogen peroxide by inhibiting the action of catalase. This compound has been shown to have anticancer activity in animal models and broad spectrum antimicrobial activities against a variety of bacteria. 2-((3-(3,6-Dichloro-9H-carbazol-9-yl)-2-hydroxypropyl)amino)-2-(hydroxymethyl)propane-1,3diol inhibits growth of mammalian cells by inducing autophagy and low expression levels.
