Tert-Butyl 2-(4-isopropoxybenzamido)-6,7-dihydrothiazolo[5,4-c]pyridine-5(4H)-carboxylate is an analog of the natural product thiazoloquinolone. It binds to the lipoprotein receptor and inhibits the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress response by inhibiting an ER protein kinase. This inhibitor prevents the accumulation of unfolded proteins in the ER and protects cells from apoptosis. Tert-Butyl 2-(4-isopropoxybenzamido)-6,7-dihydrothiazolo[5,4-c]pyridine-5(4H)-carboxylate has also been shown to have autophagy properties that may be due to its ability to induce autophagosome formation.
