Altertoxin l is a family of peptides that are the first to be identified as toxins from the genus Alteromonas. They have been found to be useful in ionization techniques that involve X-ray diffraction data and sample preparation, such as rate constant measurements. Altertoxins are also active against human pathogens, such as E. coli and Salmonella enterica, and have been used for analytical methods such as LC-MS/MS.
