Beschreibung

Clomocycline is a medicine that was originally used as an antibiotic and antiparasitic. It is also effective against viruses, fungi, and bacteria. Clomocycline is an analog of tetracycline that has a chlorine atom in the para position on the side chain. It binds to bacterial ribosomes and prevents protein synthesis, leading to cell death. Clomocycline has been shown to be effective against most strains of Mycobacterium tuberculosis, but not against Mycobacterium avium complex or Mycobacterium leprae. Clomocycline may be used as part of chemotherapy treatments for cancer.
