Sodium phosphomolybdate hydrate is an inorganic compound that is used as a corrosion inhibitor and is also used as a precursor to other compounds. Sodium phosphomolybdate hydrate is synthesized by the reaction of sodium nitrate and molybdic acid in water, followed by hydrolysis. The process starts with a cycloaddition reaction between an aromatic hydrocarbon and a hydrocarbon group, which leads to the formation of a ring-opening product. This product reacts with phosphomolybdic acid to form a phosphate salt, which can then react with sodium nitrate to form sodium phosphomolybdate hydrate.
