Beschreibung

Pentamethyldisiloxane is a divalent hydrocarbon that has transport properties and is used as a film-forming polymer. It can be used as a ferroelectric material and hydrogen bond donor. Pentamethyldisiloxane has been shown to have covid-19 pandemic resistance, which may be due to its ability to form cross-links in the polymer backbone. This allows for more cross-linking reactions than other polymers, which prevents stretching of the molecule. The phenyl groups on the molecule are carboxylate functional groups, which allow pentamethyldisiloxane to undergo transfer reactions with other compounds. Pentamethyldisiloxane also has carbonyl functional groups, which give it the ability to react with hydroxyl or amino groups on other molecules.
