8-Hydroxybergapten is a natural compound that belongs to the group of coumarin derivatives. It inhibits tyrosinase, an enzyme involved in the production of melanin, and has been shown to have potent tyrosinase inhibitory activity in cell culture. 8-Hydroxybergapten has also been shown to be effective against collagen degradation by inhibiting the synthesis of enzymes such as collagenase, which breaks down collagen. The physiological effects of 8-hydroxybergapten are not well understood, but it has been shown to have antioxidant properties. 8-hydroxybergapten can be extracted from Angelicae Dahuricae.
