Beschreibung

2-(1,3-Dioxolan-2-yl)furan is an ethylene acetal that can be industrially synthesized from dimethyl fumarate. It has been found to be an optimal reaction partner in the catalysis of a variety of organic reactions. 2-(1,3-Dioxolan-2-yl)furan has a wide range of functional groups and can be used in a variety of reactions that require bond cleavage or the formation of new bonds. This compound is also stable under acidic and basic conditions, which makes it possible for it to be used as a solvent for reactions that are sensitive to pH changes. 2-(1,3-Dioxolan-2-yl)furan is not soluble in water but is soluble in low boiling solvents such as benzene, chloroform, carbon tetrachloride, ethers, and acetone.
