Beschreibung

Di-n-octyl sulfoxide is a section compound that has a high boiling point and low reactivity. It is used as an extractant in the production of nylon. Di-n-octyl sulfoxide also has anticancer activity and can be used to treat some forms of cancer. This anticancer activity may be due to its ability to inhibit the synthesis of nucleic acids, protein, and phospholipids. The compound also binds to metal ions such as sodium and potassium, which are then removed from their environment by 3-chloroperoxybenzoic acid. This reaction releases chloride ions, which are then neutralized with hydrochloric acid. The light emission from this reaction can be detected using a spectrophotometer or a photometer.
