Beschreibung

Pepsinostreptin is a potent morphogenetic protein. It binds to the same receptor on cells as the natural hormone and can be used to treat cancer. Pepsinostreptin inhibits cell proliferation by binding to the bone morphogenetic protein receptor, which is found on cells of many types, including cancerous cells. The compound has been shown to have prognostic value in some tumours, but not all. Pepsinostreptin has also been shown to inhibit hydrolysis of 7-aminocephalosporanic acid by human pepsin.
