Beschreibung

Morachalcone A is a mulberrofuran found in Morus alba L. It has potent inhibitory activity against tyrosinase. The inhibitory effect of morachalcone A on tyrosinase is homologous and competitive, with an IC50 of 0.2 μM. The inhibition mechanism of morachalcone A may involve the hydroxyl group on C-3′ and the methyl group on C-2′ as well as a protonated amino group at N-1′. Morachalcone A also has neuroprotective effects, with an EC50 of 0.8 μM against glutamate-induced neurotoxicity in cultured rat cortical neurons. This compound inhibits brain cell death by inhibiting pro-inflammatory cytokine production through its inhibition of enzymes activities including phospholipase C, protein kinase C, and the MAPK pathway.
