Beschreibung:Elopiprazole is a 5-HT1A receptor antagonist that has been shown to be effective in the treatment of psychosis and depression. It is a prodrug that is converted into elopiprant in the body by esterases, which inhibits H3 acetylation and thereby prevents transcription of inflammatory bowel disease. Elopiprazole has been shown to have no effect on 5-ht2a receptors, dopamine receptors, or histone h3 acetylation. The drug also has a molecular structure similar to the active form of clozapine (clozapine N-oxide), which is known for its high affinity for dopamine receptors. This may explain why elopiprazole has anti-psychotic effects.
