2-Cyanoprop-2-yl-dithiobenzoate is a thiol compound that has been synthesized to have magnetic resonance properties. The compound is used as a polymer drug for the treatment of cancer. 2-Cyanoprop-2-yl-dithiobenzoate is reactive and can form conjugates with polymers, such as poly(ethylene glycol), which are used in the development of polymer drug delivery systems. This compound has been shown to inhibit tumor growth and induce cell death in mammalian cells by inhibiting DNA synthesis and cell division. 2-Cyanoprop-2-yl-dithiobenzoate also inhibits the proliferation of leukemia cells, inhibits the growth of prostate cancer cells, and induces apoptosis in human leukemia cells.
