• Beschreibung: Bivalirudin is a synthetic cyclic peptide that binds to the ATP-binding cassette transporter and inhibits the activity of the proteolytic enzyme, angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE). ACE inhibition prevents the conversion of angiotensin I to angiotensin II. Bivalirudin has been shown to be effective in reducing mortality in patients with acute coronary syndrome or undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention. It has also been shown to have pharmacokinetic properties that are similar to those of heparin. The drug has a low dose and is not associated with an increased risk of bleeding. Bivalirudin is an inhibitor and can cause drug interactions when combined with other drugs that are inhibitors or substrates for this type of transporter.
