• Beschreibung: Pertussis, commonly known as whooping cough, is a vaccine-preventable respiratory illness caused by Bordetella pertussis. The pathogen is responsible for severe clinical outcomes including pneumonia, apnea, and seizure activity. The pertussis toxin is a key protein involved in the bacterial adhesion and infection of humans by the gram negative bacterial pathogen Bordetella pertussis. Out of its five subunits, S1-S5, S1 is the most immunogenic due to the presence of protective epitopes and it demonstrating ADP-ribosyl transferase activity. Key applications of the pertussis toxin are its use in IgG and IgA ELISA assays and in acellular pertussis vaccines.This Bordetella pertussis toxin of the Tohama I strain is highly purified from Bordetella pertussis culture supernatant and is presented in Tris/HCl buffer, pH 8.0, 0.5M NaCl and 50% glycerol as a preservative. Whole Bordetella pertussis organisms are removed by sterile filtration and its pathogenicity has been confirmed negative by the absence of growth under original culture conditions.
