Beschreibung

Penitrem A is a natural product that consists of the acetate extract from the roots of the plant "Penicillium citrinum". It has been shown to inhibit neuronal death and induce pluripotent cells. Penitrem A inhibits acetylcholine esterase in rat liver microsomes, leading to an increase in proton release. Its ability to bind calcium ions may be responsible for its effects on neurons. Penitrem A has also been shown to have potential as a therapeutic agent in autoimmune diseases and as a model system for studying calcium binding proteins.
