• Beschreibung: Isoamyl n-octanoate is a synthetic cationic surfactant used in detergents, fabric softeners, and other household products. It is a component of the fragrance molecule 2-methylbutyl n-octanoate. Isoamyl n-octanoate has been shown to be effective as an extraction solvent for solid phase microextraction (SPME) of fatty acids from plant seeds. The method was validated using SPME coupled with gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (GCMS). The analytical method can be used to analyze fatty acid content in oilseed crops such as soybean, sunflower, safflower, and corn. Isoamyl n-octanoate also has been studied for use in polymerase chain reaction (PCR) experiments in Saccharomyces cerevisiae strains.
