4-Bromo-3-hydroxy-2-naphthoic Acid is a potent inhibitor of platelet aggregation, which is the process by which blood cells stick together and form clots. It also has anti-inflammatory properties and can be used to treat fungal infections. 4-Bromo-3-hydroxy-2-naphthoic Acid inhibits prostaglandin synthesis by blocking the enzyme cyclooxygenase, which is required for the production of prostaglandins from arachidonic acid. This agent also inhibits the growth of organisms such as Trichophyton mentagrophytes, Salmonella typhi, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and Staphylococcus aureus. The minimal inhibitory concentration (MIC) of this compound varies with different organisms; it was found to be 0.01% in Escherichia coli and Candida albicans while 0.1%
