Beschreibung

Sitosteryl palmitate is a fatty acid that is used in the treatment of hyperlipidemia and other conditions. It inhibits cholesterol esterase, which is an enzyme that catalyzes the hydrolysis of cholesterol esters to free cholesterol and fatty acids. Sitosteryl palmitate is also used for the production of pharmaceutical preparations, such as aestivum tablets, which are used for the treatment of high cholesterol levels. This preparation has been shown to inhibit the release of free fatty acids from adipose tissue, thereby reducing blood levels of triglycerides. In addition to this, sitosteryl palmitate has been shown to have an inhibitory effect on lipases in vitro.
