Beschreibung

Acetophos is a chemotherapy drug that is used in the treatment of cancer. It is also used as an antiviral, antibiotic, antiparasitic, and natural product. Acetophos inhibits viral replication by inhibiting host enzymes that are needed for DNA synthesis. It has been shown to have potent activity against bacteria and fungi. Acetophos binds to bacterial ribonucleotide reductase, which is an enzyme that catalyzes the conversion of ribonucleotides into deoxyribonucleotides. This leads to inhibition of DNA synthesis and cell death. Acetophos is a synthetic compound with an effective half-life of about 2 hours in humans.
