• Beschreibung: 1-Tridecene is a model system for studying the interactions of cationic surfactants with HIV. 1-Tridecene was found to have strong anti-inflammatory activity and significant cytotoxicity against tumor cells, but weak cytotoxicity against normal cells. It has been shown that 1-Tridecene contains a hydroxyl group, which is responsible for the observed antiinflammatory activity and cytotoxicity. The acetate extract of 1-tridecene was also found to be effective in inhibiting HIV replication. The anti-HIV effect may result from the inhibition of reverse transcriptase by 1-tridecene or its metabolites.
