5-Iodo-2-methyl-1H-benzo[d]imidazole is an iodination reagent that is used in organic synthesis. It is a substance that has been shown to be efficient and very useful in certain reactions. This reagent can be used as a hydrogenation reducing agent, as well as a cyclization reaction with sulfuric acid and iodine. 5-Iodo-2-methyl-1H-benzo[d]imidazole can also be used for the decolorization of organic compounds, such as phenols, using oxidizing agents like chlorine or hydrogen peroxide.
5-Iodo-2-methyl-1H-benzo[d]imidazole has been shown to react with the hydroxyl group of an aromatic ring, which in turn leads to the formation of a phenoxy radical on the ring. The phenoxy radical then reacts with another molecule of 5-[iodo(phenyl
