4±-Phorbol 12,13-didecanoate is a water-soluble analog of phorbol that has been shown to be potent inducers of transcription and protein synthesis. 4±-Phorbol 12,13-didecanoate binds to the protein kinase domain of the Trpv4 receptor and inhibits its activity, leading to decreased expression of proinflammatory cytokines. This drug also induces phase transitions in cells by opening up ion channels. This drug has been shown to have potent effects on the regulation of gene transcription and protein synthesis by binding to protein kinases.
