Produktinformation
1,6-Dimethylpyrene is a polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon that has been shown to be tumorigenic in rats and mice. It also inhibits the growth of Salmonella typhimurium and other bacteria. 1,6-Dimethylpyrene is metabolized by cytochrome P450 enzymes to form 1,2-dimethylbenzene and 1,6-dimethylaniline. These metabolites bind to DNA and inhibit RNA synthesis. This results in the inhibition of protein synthesis, leading to cell death by inhibiting the production of proteins vital for cell division. The metabolism of 1,6-dimethylpyrene also produces phenanthrenes that bind to dna gyrase and topoisomerase IV, preventing DNA replication.
