Isobutylshikonin is a natural compound that belongs to the group of hydroxylated terpenes. It has an aromatic ring with a hydroxyl group, and is found in ganoderma lucidum. Isobutylshikonin exhibits potent physiological activities such as antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and anticancer activity. Isobutylshikonin also has antiviral activity against HIV-1. The chromatographic method for isolating this compound involves extracting it from pueraria lobata with acetate and then purifying it by liquid chromatography.
