Beschreibung:Chagas disease is caused by the parasite Trypanosoma cruzi and is transmitted to humans by the bite of an infected triatomine bug. The Chagas multiantigen (CM) is a recombinant protein that contains the entire sequence of the T. cruzi trypomastigote surface glycoprotein gp41, which plays a critical role in parasite invasion of host cells. CM can be used as a research tool for studying receptor-ligand interactions, ion channels, cell biology, and pharmacology. It also has potential use as an inhibitor of the invasion of mammalian cells by T. cruzi trypomastigotes.
