Beschreibung:Camstatin is an adjuvant therapy that has been shown to inhibit the activation of protein kinase A (PKA) in cells. It also inhibits phosphorylation of the cAMP-dependent protein kinase, which leads to a potentiation of effects. Camstatin also has a potent inhibitory effect on cellular protein synthesis and phosphate uptake. Camstatin can be used as an inhibitor of the phosphodiesterase enzyme, which is involved in the hydrolysis of intracellular cyclic nucleotides. This prevents the breakdown of cAMP and therefore increases its concentration in the cell and activates PKA.
