Beschreibung:θ-toxin forms pores on the surface of host cells which can lead to cytolysis or activation of the inflammatory response. θ-toxin can induce mast cell degranulation. The toxin produced by S.aureus has been strongly linked to atopic dermatitis. As a natural antimicrobial it has been used as a template for novel and more potent antimicrobial peptides.
