• Beschreibung: IL-1 beta is a cytokine that plays an important role in the inflammatory response. IL-1 beta is produced by macrophages, monocytes, and fibroblasts in response to stimuli such as lipopolysaccharide (LPS), bacterial endotoxin, and other cytokines. It is also produced by keratinocytes and dendritic cells in response to bacterial products. IL-1 beta binds to the IL-1 receptor on the cell surface membrane, triggering a cascade of reactions inside the cell that lead to changes in gene expression and protein production. IL-1 beta can be used as an indicator of inflammation due to its release by activated lymphocytes, natural killer cells, and neutrophils during acute infections. The presence of this substance indicates that there has been tissue damage or some other form of cell injury.
