• Beschreibung: TNF-α is a cytokine that is produced by many cells, including macrophages, T cells, mast cells, and synovial cells. It is a pleiotropic proinflammatory cytokine that has been implicated in cancer and other inflammatory diseases. TNF-α is a potent inducer of cell death through activation of the Fas-FasL death pathway or induction of apoptosis. In addition to its role as an anti-tumor agent, TNF-α has been shown to be important in the regulation of immune responses and inflammation. It also plays an important role in bacterial sepsis by suppressing the production of proinflammatory cytokines such as IL-1β and IL-12 by macrophages.
