EGF is a ligand for the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR), and it has been shown that there are many other receptors that can bind to EGF, including insulin-like growth factor 1 receptor (IGF1R), insulin-like growth factor 2 receptor (IGF2R), platelet-derived growth factor A receptor alpha chain (PDGFRα), c-met proto-oncogene, fibroblast growth factor receptor 3 (FGFR3), and nerve growth factor receptor (NGFR).
