• Beschreibung: IL-13 is a cytokine that belongs to the IL-4 family of cytokines. IL-13 is an activator of B cells and mast cells. It binds to the IL-4 receptor and can activate lymphocytes, macrophages, eosinophils, basophils, and neutrophils. This cytokine has been shown to inhibit ion channels in airway epithelium cells and also bind to the alpha1 subunit of the N-methyl d-aspartate receptor. IL-13 is also a ligand for the IL-4 receptor, which may be important for its function as a regulator of other cytokines such as TNFα or IFNγ.
