• Beschreibung: IL-1α is a cytokine that belongs to the group of proinflammatory cytokines. It plays a role in the immune response and inflammatory reactions by inducing the synthesis of other cytokines, such as IL-6, IL-8, and TNF-α. IL-1α binds to its receptor on a cell surface and activates an intracellular signalling cascade. The binding of IL-1α to its receptor induces conformational changes in the receptor, which leads to activation of phospholipase C (PLC) and production of IP3. This process results in increased levels of calcium ions inside the cell and activation of protein kinases such as PKC, MAPKs and JNKs. This results in increased activity of enzymes such as cyclooxygenase and lipoxygenase, which are responsible for inflammatory responses.
