DL-Lantionine is a naturally occurring basic protein that is found in the human body. It has been shown to have the ability to inhibit ATP-binding cassette transporter proteins, which are responsible for transporting a number of different drugs and other substances that enter cells. DL-Lantionine also reduces neuronal death by blocking kappa opioid receptors, which are involved in pain transmission. DL-Lantionine is an oral antimicrobial agent that can be used to treat bowel disease or prevent infection by oral pathogens such as Streptococcus pyogenes. This drug has been shown to bind penicillin-binding proteins and act as an antimicrobial agent against bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus and Helicobacter pylori.
