Beschreibung

p-Methoxy-N,α-dimethylphenethylamine hydrochloride (pMDMA) is a synthetic drug with a phenethylamine backbone. It has been found to be used in the illicit manufacture of MDMA and may have neurotoxic properties. The synthesis of pMDMA starts with anisaldehyde as a starting material and hydrogen chloride as the reagent. The reaction proceeds through four steps, including the formation of an intermediate that is then treated with methylamine to produce the final product. This process can be followed using analytical methods such as magnetic resonance spectroscopy or chromatography.
