Beschreibung

Platonin diiodide is a phosphoramide mustard that inhibits the synthesis of DNA and protein. It binds to DNA, preventing the production of RNA and protein. Platonin diiodide has been shown to inhibit lymphocyte transformation in mice by blocking c-jun phosphorylation. This drug also induces apoptosis in mouse thymocytes at low doses, but not at high doses. The drug also inhibits bowel disease induced by haemolytic agents such as water or monoclonal antibody against rat bowel cells. Platonin diiodide has been shown to be effective in the treatment of inflammatory bowel disease in rats, which may be due to its ability to increase the permeability of the intestine and induce locomotor activity.
