Dimethylazobenzene is a type of carcinogen that is detectable in the blood. It is a metabolite of 4-dimethylaminoazobenzene, which has been shown to induce immunosuppression in rats and mice. Ingestion of this chemical can lead to equilibrium between its two tautomeric forms. This equilibrium can be disrupted by the addition of ammonium ions or aflatoxin b1.
