4-Iodobenzamide is a radiopharmaceutical that is used to detect and diagnose malignant cells in the body. It is synthesized from 4-iodobenzoic acid and aminomethylbenzohydrazide, and it emits positrons on decay. The product ions of this compound are measured by an x-ray detector to produce images of the whole body or specific organs. The uptake of 4-iodobenzamide can be seen with x-ray data, which makes it possible to differentiate between benign and malignant tissues. This drug has been shown to be effective in vitro studies on lung cancer cells, but its use in vivo has not been studied.
