Beschreibung:
Ethyl 2-methyl-3-furancarboxylate is a synthetic compound that is obtained by the condensation of trimethylacetic acid with glycolaldehyde in the presence of an acid catalyst. The product was used as a precursor in the synthesis of furospongolide A, an antitumour agent. It has also been shown to have anticancer activity and may be effective against other kinds of tumours. Ethyl 2-methyl-3-furancarboxylate is not toxic to humans or animals at low concentrations but can cause organ damage at high concentrations.
