Beschreibung

Bentaluron is a microorganism-derived, synthetic, broad-spectrum antibiotic that has been shown to be effective against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. Bentaluron also has antiparasitic and antifungal activity. This antibiotic is soluble in water and it is easily absorbed by the body when taken orally. Bentaluron can be used to treat bacterial infections of the respiratory tract, urinary tract, skin, soft tissues and bone. Bentaluron's antiviral effects are due to its ability to inhibit viral RNA synthesis. This drug also exhibits antifungal properties by inhibiting the synthesis of ergosterol in fungal cells. The chemical name for this compound is (E)-2-(4-(4-chlorophenyl)piperidin-1-yl)acrylic acid methyl ester hydrochloride monohydrate.
