• Beschreibung: Sarmentine is an analog of hydroxybenzoic acid that is a non-selective herbicide. It inhibits the growth of plants by inhibiting the synthesis of fatty acids and proteins, which are necessary for plant cell division. Sarmentine has potent inhibitory activity against bacterial strains such as E. coli and Salmonella enterica, but does not have any effect on Escherichia coli K-12. Sarmentine is toxic to animals and humans if ingested in large quantities. Sarmentine can be used as a control agent in vitro assays to study bacterial growth.
